The late Chief Chidziva laid to rest

he late Zvimba based Chief Chidziva born Johannes Jenami has been described as a dedicated custodian of the African culture and tradition.

The sentiments were made by the minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, Hon Kazembe Kazembe who conveyed his condolence message to the Chidziva family recently.


The minister was the chief mourner on the official burial proceedings for the late Chief at Sarahati Farm in Raffingora.

"The nation has been robbed of a patriotic traditional leader who assisted freedom fighters during the liberation struggle with food and information on our colonizers,"

he said while addressing hundreds of mourners at the funeral "President Emerson Mnangagwa has sent me here to console the Gushungo family on this loss. Chief Chidziva was a staunch supporter of the ruling party ZANU PF which will rule and continue ruling, he will be remembered as a liberator, father, advisor and an exemplary farmer,"


he said. Mashonaland West Provincial Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Hon Mary Mliswa Chikoka said the province is now poorer without Chief Chidziva.


"In Chief Chidziva, we had a great advisor for our province, someone we looked upon for directions and we are more poorer without him," she said Zvimba North Costituency Member of Parliament and Local Government Ministry Deputy minister Hon Marian Chombo said that Zvimba Constituency has lost its library "Chief Chidziva was a great advisor,

custodian of our culture and in him we were able to get accurate history of where we were coming from and not the distorted history written by our colonizers. He was someone we all looked upon for advice and we want to thank President Emerson Mnangagwa for doing everything to assist the chief during his illness," she said.


Headman Katizagomo, Gibson Jenami, the late chief`s second son thanked the government and various mining firms in Zvimba for their support to the late chief including during the time of his illness.


"As a family, we thank the government especially our President for all the support rendered to our father as well as the support from mining companies in this area towards the work of the late chief and we do appreciate the role played by our local MP Hon Chombo in taking the late chief for medical attention until his untimely death,"


he said. The late 92 year old Chief Chidziva was appointed as Chief in November 2012. He is survived with two wives and twenty one grandchildren
